Problem

Most students want to do something for a better world but don’t know how. The best way is to let them find out what their internal motivation is. The problem is that it is difficult to get attention to students to start joining in these thinking steps. Therefore we have made our project, called Green Cups.

Concept

Green Cups is a cup exchange system where students and faculty can borrow cups and return them. This in itself is an eco-friendly alternative to throwaway cups.

However this does not directly inform and motivate students about sustainability. Therefore we have made the return system into a question answering machine. Instead of just returning the used cup to a box, a user will have to put it through one of two holes, which indicate YES or NO.

With this they answer a question which is displayed on the device. This makes a student think about an issue, while not making the cup exchange system overcomplicated, which would scare people of.

The administrator of the device can control which questions is displayed on the device through the webpage. Besides that all the answers which are given are also stored. With this the administrator can get a consensus of students on a specific topic and also see how their opinions have changed overtime.
